I am very glad to have been awarded the Resolve Foundation Fellowship 2023. As one of sixteen selected emerging leaders, I have been attending professional workshops, establishing networks and identifying new resources for implementing my social justice work.
The Resolve Foundation 2023 Fellowship is awarded to local emerging leaders from different backgrounds. This year’s fellows include founders of NGOs, Doctors and leaders of education foundations from Hong Kong. By receiving training, workshops, seminars, as well as personal development and mentorship, the selected fellows will also be eligible to apply for seed-funding for their specific project in mind to bring social impact in their chosen field of expertise.
This year, The Foundation hopes to acknowledge the impact the pandemic has had on the learning of our youngest generation and the power that equal access to quality educational opportunities has in propelling people forward in life, as well as its importance to the sustainable development of societies.
Ever since becoming part of the LC, I have been researching of delivery of lectures to students to instigate a positive learning hub. I have been trying to understand if there is an educational gap for learning at the tertiary level and what actions the educators would take to reach out to more students at HKBU.
I use drama to increase collaboration, interaction and focus on my Art of Persuasion classes and I realized drama can be a strong medium for teaching public speaking and English. I believe this area is worth exploring so my hope is that I can develop a teaching manual that offers more insights on the usage of such a medium in the near future.
The Fellowship is open to the public for application. While selection is tough with a 1 in-10 ratio of success, the Fellowship can create a stronger network for admitted fellows and access to new resources that can be beneficial for further outreach.
The Fellowship, as well as my involvement, would definitely bring a strong tie to few SDG goals such as 4) Inclusive and quality education as well as 16) Promote peaceful and inclusive institutions. By creating an immersive environment for students as well as educators, I hope drama can enhance our spirits and health positively.
