Details

Impromptu Speech

  1. Contestants will select a topic for their speech by drawing a question from a pool of questions prepared by the Coordinator of the Speaking Contest.
  2. Questions will be related to current events.
  3. No two contestants will speak on the same topic in the same year.
  4. Each contestant will be given five minutes to prepare before they deliver a speech.
  5. Each speech will be timed and is expected to be between 3 to 4 minutes.
  6. Contestant order will be determined by a random drawing at the time of the Contest.

Award ceremony and Public lecture

Time: 7:00 – 9:00 pm

1st Prize$1500 vouchers and a trophy
2nd Prize$1200 vouchers and a trophy
3rd Prize$900 vouchers and a trophy

Remarks

  • All Hong Kong Baptist University UGC-Funded full-time students who are not native speakers of English are eligible to enter.
  • The winners will also have a chance to represent HKBU to compete in the Regional Semi-Final of the 21st Century Cup NES (Hong Kong Region) organised by China Daily and win further prizes/ awards. (Detail: https://www.vdoenglish.com/i21st/en)
