Supplementary Courses Application Procedures for Course Certificates
Introduction
With effect from the academic year of 2017-2018, students who have fulfilled the attendance requirement of supplementary courses may apply for a Certificate of Attendance. The completion of these courses will NOT be listed on students’ academic transcripts.
Students who have passed PUTO1300/1400/2300/2400 Mandarin for Beginners courses or PUTO3080 Preparation Course for Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi may apply for a Certificate of Course Completion. Students who have passed PUTO2270 Preparation Course for Computerized Oral Proficiency Assessment may apply for a Putonghua Language Proficiency Certificate. The completion of these courses will continue to be listed on undergraduate students’ academic transcripts.
Eligibility and Types of Certificates
A. Certificate of Attendance
Students who have attended at least 85% of lessons in any Supplementary Courses of English, Chinese, Foreign Language, or Putonghua (except PUTO1300/1400/2300/2400, PUTO2270 and PUTO3080) are eligible to apply for a Certificate of Attendance.
B. Certificate of Course Completion
Students who have passed the following Putonghua supplementary courses are eligible to apply for a Certificate of Course Completion with the course grade shown on it:
- PUTO1300 Mandarin for Beginners (I) (Part 1)
- PUTO1400 Mandarin for Beginners (I) (Part 2)
- PUTO2300 Mandarin for Beginners (II) (Part 1)
- PUTO2400 Mandarin for Beginners (II) (Part 2)
- PUTO3080 Preparation Course for Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi
C. Putonghua Language Proficiency Certificate
Students who have passed the Computerized Oral Proficiency Assessment (COPA), which is the final examination of PUTO2270 Preparation Course for Computerized Oral Proficiency Assessment (COPA), are eligible to apply for a Putonghua Language Proficiency Certificate
Application Procedures
Please fill in the Application Form* and email the completed form to lcsup@hkbu.edu.hk by the following deadlines.
A. Certificate of Attendance (applicable to all supplementary courses of Chinese, English, Putonghua and Foreign Languages except PUTO1300/1400/2300/2400, PUTO2270 and PUTO3080)
Please apply for certificates within one month after the last lesson of the course.
B. Certificate of Course Completion (applicable to PUTO1300/1400/2300/2400 and PUTO3080)
Please apply for certificates within one month after the last lesson of the course.
C. Putonghua Language Proficiency Certificate (applicable to PUTO2270)
Please apply for certificates within one month after the announcement of the results.
Collection of Certificates
Students will be informed by email when certificates are ready for collection. Please bring your student ID card to the General Office (OEE1203) of the Language Centre for collecting certificates within three months after the notification.
