Jesse received his undergraduate degree in English at the University of Alabama, where he played trombone in the University's marching band and jazz band. He also worked as a radio DJ at the University's student radio station, WVUA 90.7 FM. While an undergraduate, he edited two newsletters for the University's College of Community Health Sciences and worked as an ecology lab assistant in the Department of Biology.
As a graduate student in the MA English program, Jesse taught English composition I and II. He also served as a research assistant, primarily researching American poet Pamela White Hadas.
Upon graduation, Jesse was hired at Marion Military Institute, a junior college and former high school that promotes development of the whole person, through academic, physical/military, and moral-ethical education. When MMI became a public institution the following year and began phasing out its high school curriculum, he joined the college faculty full-time.
Jesse is presently teaching English courses at HKBU's Language Center.
